Mission Statement

To create a continuum of care from
violence prevention to crisis intervention to empowering self-sufficiency
for the residents of our
surrounding mountain communities.

Mountain Peace Shelter would like to wish you and your family peace in 2010!

The times being what they are, our shelter is full - full of brave women, children and pets who have come to us seeking a safe place to lay their heads, and open hearts to start their lives again - free from violence and yearning peace.

Thanks to your caring and financial support, the Peace Shelter has continued to provide this critical service to our mountain communities for over 23 years.

If you or your family wish to make a difference, and do not need more "things" in your home, please consider donating to the Peace Shelter in honor of those you love.

SafePets

Our newest program is a vision for Mountain Peace Shelter to provide shelter and safety for the pets of the women and children who come to our shelter to prevent their further abuse, injury, or death.

A survey of women in a safe house in Utah, found that 70% delayed leaving the abusive situation out of fear that their pet would be harmed.

It's a work in progress. . . .

We need your help.

We gratefully accept help finding the resources to pay vet bills or getting necessary supplies.  As an alternative, we'll be happy to
accept cash or check donations to be used for the SafePets Program.

Thank you for your caring and support!

Safe Pets
Pets are family.  Many people will not leave an abusive situation for fear that their pets may be injured or killed to get back at them. Mountain Peace Shelter is one of the only shelters in Colorado where pets can come and be with their humans.  Mountain Peace has on-site facilities for dogs and cats and foster homes for horses and larger animals.  Mountain Peace knows the importance of keeping all family members together and safe.
